With a name as unique as the shop’s merchandise, Broken Cherry is my favorite Chicago rock ‘n’ roll boutique to shop for gifts (for others and myself). If you’re an offbeat chick like me who shies away from traditional baby shower gifts, check this place out for rockin’ vinyl bibs, righteous tiny dish sets, leopard spotted onsies (which you can have customized with heat transfer art or lettering at the store). I really wish I had the coconuts to fill out one of the Iron Fist monster bikinis sold there. There’s also lots of brightly colored makeup and accessories, fabulous Trophy Queen purses, Sin In Linen sheets and bath accessories, Sailor Jerry clothing, and sparkly one-of-a-kind Sink or Swim dog collars.
The sister (or would it be brother?) shop next door, BC Speed Shop, is the most popular place in the city for guys to get pomade for their pompadours, as well as the shampoo to wash it out. And… wait for it… It’s the only place in Chicagoland bikers can buy Biltwell motorcycle parts!
Pictured above is shop founder and owner, Remey Rozin. I’m inspired by her savvy business sense as well as the passion, thoughtfulness, and creativity she’s poured in to her ever-growing business over the years. Oh, and if two giant, lovable blonds sniff your tush, it’s cool. That’s just Bogey and Cooper, the canine shopkeepers.
Broken Cherry and BC Speed Shop are located at 1734 & 1736 W. North Ave., Chicago, IL 60622 or shop online at www.brokencherry.com
